The town of Ajax is named after the World War II Royal Navy cruiser, HMS Ajax, which set sail during World War II. Currently Ajax has one of the fastest growing populations in the eastern Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The city of Pickering is a thriving hub of business and culture. It offers 200+ hectares of groomed parkland, hiking trails and conservation areas, providing the perfect combination for leisure and recreation for all.

Pickering and Ajax are located in the Durham region. Visitors from Toronto can reach Pickering and Ajax by driving east via Highway 401.
You can also travel via GO Transit from Union Station in Toronto and reach Pickering and Ajax within an hour. The closest airport is Toronto Pearson International (YYZ).

Visit a village museum
The Pickering Museum Village is spread across 19 heritage buildings and includes beautiful orchards and gardens. It also houses artifacts that demonstrate life from the 1800s.
Enjoy axe throwing
The Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL) location in Pickering is the largest of all its venues. Try your hand at throwing real axes at targets for a unique sporting adventure.
Explore the waterfront
Parts of the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail pass through Ajax and Pickering, providing breathtaking views of Lake Ontario.
Visit a conservation area
The Petticoat Creek Conservation Park offers a unique natural corridor for wildlife viewing and hiking along Lake Ontario. It also includes 69 types of trees such as oak, willow and more.
Visit a horse racetrack
Ajax Downs is the only horse racing track in Ontario to enjoy Quarter Horse Racing. Also located on-site is Casino Ajax, with over 800 slot machines and other electronic games.
