History buffs will enjoy the many museums in the region, including historical re-enactments at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons.

Where is Bruce, Grey and Simcoe?

Also called the Georgian Triangle, Bruce, Grey and Simcoe counties stretch from Lake Huron’s east shore, along southern Georgian Bay, to the north end of Lake Simcoe. Key cities in the area include Owen Sound, Collingwood and Barrie.

One of the region’s prominent features is the Bruce Peninsula. It stretches from Owen Sound to the town of Tobermory, or “The Tub” as it’s known locally.

The region is best reached by car, although cycling routes and even craft beer bus tours are available.

Things to do in Bruce, Grey and Simcoe

Explore a national park

Natural wonders abound in Bruce Peninsula National Park. Search for spring orchids, hike the trails and dive into the crystal blue waters of the “Grotto”, a naturally formed sea cave.

Go scuba diving

Known as the “Diving Capital of Canada”, Fathom Five National Marine Park near Tobermory Harbour offers diving opportunities to over 20 shipwrecks. Lessons are available in town.

Make it a beach day

Rent a jet ski, go for a swim, grab an ice cream and catch a world-class sunset—there are so many fun things to do in Sauble Beach, an 11-kilometre stretch of white sand along Lake Huron.

Step back in time

See what life was like in 18th-century Ontario at the Discovery Harbour marina. Explore a historical garrison, ships and shipwrecks, or embark on a Discovery Harbour Ghost Tour.

Follow the Apple Pie Trail

Explore the farms, orchards and bakeries of the Apple Pie Trail, located along the shores of Georgian Bay. Make a day of sampling ciders, wines, apple-infused cheeses and apple pies.
