Dufferin County is a primarily rural destination that spans nearly 150,000 hectares in Central Ontario. The county is home to three main urban areas: Grand Valley, Orangeville and Shelburne, with more small towns dotting the countryside.

Where is Dufferin County?

Dufferin County is situated in central Ontario, roughly 100 kilometres northwest of the Greater Toronto Area. The county is best explored by car or motorcycle, although GO Transit bus service is available to the city of Orangeville. Local transit within Orangeville is provided by Orangeville Transit.

The nearest major airports are Toronto Pearson International Airport and Hamilton International Airport.

Things to Know About Visiting Dufferin County

Go paddling

Canoe or kayak over 330 hectares of lake, wetland and forests at the Island Lake Conservation Area, situated at the headwaters of the Credit River in Orangeville.

A Schitt’s Creek local gem

The motel used as the Rosebud Motel from Schitt’s Creek is located on private property in the town of Mono but is available for photos when travellers park safely along the side of the road.

Explore regional history
