Aga Khan Museum is a stunning Toronto museum dedicated to celebrating the Islamic arts.
Together with the Aga Khan Park and Ismaili Centre, this Ontario art museum promotes understanding and trust between cultures through the use of art, education programs and dynamic music, dance and theatre exhibitions as well as workshops and film screenings.
Home to over 1,200 pieces of art including manuscripts, scientific instruments, paintings, ceramics and metalwork spanning ancient Muslim civilizations, the Aga Khan Museum complex offers one of the most culturally unique collections in Canada.

How to get to Aga Khan Museum
Location: 77 Wynford Drive, North York
By car: The museum is located a short drive north of Downtown Toronto on the Don Valley Parkway. On-site parking is available at the museum and also in the nearby The Ismaili Centre parking lot. Purchase a parking pass online or in person.
By transit: Take a direct bus ride to the Aga Khan Museum from various nearby TTC subway stations such as Broadway, Pape and Eglington.
Know before you go
The museum is open every week from Tuesday to Sunday and on all statutory holidays except December 25. Get tickets online or in person. Enjoy free admission every Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Plan to carry only essential items during your visit, as briefcases, tripods and backpacks are not allowed in the galleries. Strollers and front-facing baby carriers are permitted.

Interesting facts about the Aga Khan Museum
The Aga Khan Museum was designed by Fumihiko Maki, a recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The museum is oriented 45 degrees to solar north and as a result, all its sides are exposed to the sun.
Maki used light as his inspiration and ensured that natural light coming into the museum decorates it in numerous ways. During your visit, watch for incoming light creating patterns on the exterior granite walls, enhancing interior spaces or illuminating the open-roofed courtyard.
The museum is named after the Aga Khan, the Imam who leads those who follow the Ismaili branch of Shiite Islam.
