Discover Ontario during the FIFA World Cup 2026™
Killarney Mountain Lodge
Turn your excitement into a well-deserved break. Plan a road trip or explore all that Ontario has to offer. From connecting with nature to joining vibrant global celebrations in Ontario communities, there’s more to enjoy beyond Toronto.
If you don’t have a car, no problem, some of these places are a short bus or train ride away.
Niagara Falls, a wonder of the world
The thundering cascades of Niagara Falls attract thousands of people to its edge every day. Only an hour and a half from Toronto, it’s one of the top tourist attractions in Ontario and the world’s greatest natural wonders.
It’s also an easy train ride via GO Transit from Union Station. Purchase a weekday or weekend transit pass with Niagara Parks/GO Transit, which includes round-trip tickets to Niagara Falls on the Metrolinx GO Train and unlimited access to the hop-on, hop-off WEGO bus service.
Few cities can compete with Niagara Falls for fun and entertainment. There’s everything from family-friendly Clifton Hill and the Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park, to the endless energy of Fallsview Casino Resort. Also, don’t miss your chance to get drenched on a cruise taking you directly under the Falls.
While you’re there, discover the historic backroads of Niagara’s Wine Country with more than 100 wineries to try, most offering tastings and tours. For an extra charming addition, visit the Victorian-era downtown of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Fan Zone by the Falls is a free celebration of global soccer held from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in Niagara Falls. Join the outdoor watch party and be part of a diverse soccer culture.
Ottawa, Canada’s capital city
Canada’s vibrant capital, Ottawa, is a leisurely five-hour road trip through charming small towns and the breathtaking natural terrain Ontario is known for.
This is a city made for exploring. From Parliament Hill, the historic seat of government, to the shopping, dining, arts and entertainment scene of the ByWard Market, there are so many things to see and do in Ottawa.
And with more than 800 kilometres of recreational pathways for strolling or cycling, something new is around every corner. No visit to Ottawa is complete without a cruise on the Rideau Canal. Flowing 202 kilometres from central downtown, the Rideau is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For even more adventure, go white water rafting on the Ottawa River.
Along the way, step back centuries and discover what’s made Canada the great nation it is at the Canadian Museum of History, one of the city’s seven national museums.
Summer means food, music and art festivals all across Ontario—with some of the biggest happening in Ottawa, including the world-renowned Ottawa Bluesfest and a massive party staged on Parliament Hill for Canada Day (Canada’s birthday!) on July 1.
