Whether you’re searching for a permanent home, vacation rental or a weekend golf getaway, the resort and golf course at Cobble Beach is a golf lover’s ace. As a four-season resort with year-round entertainment and fine dining—it is an attraction worth visiting even if you don’t play the sport ... yet!

History of Cobble Beach

Cobble Beach Golf Resort is the brainchild of father and son, Willis and Rob McLeese. For years, they longed to create an environmentally-friendly, stunning, and high-tech golf course community that incorporates the beauty of its natural surroundings. Acclaimed golf course architect Doug Carrick, and a team of planners, engineers, and environmental consultants, turned McLeese’s dream into a reality.

Prior to construction, careful consideration was closely paid to determine that the 574-acre property was not on any ancient burial grounds of Indigenous people. Additionally, 13 heritage zones were established. Trails marked by heritage sites explore the area’s Indigenous and Euro-Canadian heritage, reflecting Cobble Beach’s commitment to preserving the land and its history.

The waterfront golf resort is situated on the incredible Georgian Bay. No detail was spared when it comes to the views on the golf course. Guests can tee off at any of the 18 challenging and award-winning links-style fairways while still enjoying the breathtaking views of Georgian Bay.

Cobble Beach’s lighthouse near the 17th and 18th tee on Georgian Bay’s shoreline is another historically significant tribute. It is a testament to the historic and old-world nature of the property that dates back to 1803 when the British admiralty used two spots along the Georgian Bay shoreline at Cobble Beach as survey points.

The golf course

While the Cobble Beach Golf Resort is challenging in itself, try not to get thrown off your golf game by the sheer beauty of the golf course masterpiece!

At Cobble Beach, you’ll find the same jagged, fast running, bump and run characteristics typically found on the stunning links courses of Scotland and Ireland. The Georgian Bay can be seen from each one of the course’s 18 holes. Each nine begins through an open meadow flanked with mature woodlands. As you continue, the course gives rise to provide unobstructed views of the course before returning to the shore for a memorable finish along the bluffs.

In operation since 2007, the Cobble Beach Golf Resort is currently ranked as one of the top 100 golf courses in the country by Score Golf.

However, don’t be intimidated if you’re not the next Mike Weir. The resort offers a series of golf clinics catering to juniors, adults and corporate groups. Just need to grab your clubs, and you’re ready to hit the links!

The clubhouse and inn

A Nantucket-style clubhouse is home to the resort inn, spa and renowned Sweetwater Restaurant. The clubhouse provides one of Ontario’s finest waterfront venues for weddings, anniversaries or conferences.

The Inn is just steps away from the Clubhouse and features beautifully decorated suites and five private cottages. After a long day on the green, treat yourself to a well-deserved rest at the Clubhouse.

Hit the Sweetwater Restaurant and Bar for food that is deliciously on par. At Cobble’s Sweetwater Restaurant, chef Tim Johnston’s seasonal menu highlights regional products, such as an elk scallopini with cranberry glaze. Save room for his signature rum raisin butter tart. Yum!
