Snow Valley Ski Resort

Whether you’re new to Ontario’s winter season, a lifelong urbanite, or a family with little ones experiencing everything for the first time, snow based recreation like skiing and snowboarding can initially seem a little intimidating. Snow Valley Ski Resort is here to change that. Recognized by Ski Canada Magazine as the ‘best Ontario hill for kids’, Snow Valley takes the scary out of skiing and replaces it with fun.

Located just a few minutes north of Barrie, Snow Valley Ski Resort provides a safe, family-focused winter playground. It’s an approachable and enjoyable environment for learning the skills of skiing and snowboarding.

Half of the skiable terrain is dedicated for beginners, and with private lessons and various learning programs, first timers can feel comfortable and confident as they conquer the hill.

Snow Valley is actually one of the largest ski and snowboarding schools in Ontario, and they even offer preschool programs for kids as young as 3 years old.

But it’s not all baby steps and bunny hills at Snow Valley. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can graduate to taller slopes and longer runs designed for intermediate and seasoned skiers and snowboarders.

More about Snow Valley Ski Resort

Established in 1952, Snow Valley Ski Resort has a long history of maintaining the utmost safety on the slopes. The founding group was known as the Triple S Club, which stood for Ski, Safety and Sociability.

The resort features 20 runs for skiing and snowboarding, 3 ski lifts (including an easy-to-board 6 person lift with a rolling carpet), as well as snowtubing and snowshoeing.

Snowtubing requires no skill or special equipment, so everyone is welcome. There are 14 snowtubing chutes over 10 stories high at Snow Valley, and they’re guaranteed to give your family maximum thrills.

If you’re interested in snowshoeing, the resort offers 17 km of trails that range from easy to challenging. An impressive 14 km of the trail system includes interpretive signage providing information on the history of the resort and facts about its environment and ecosystem, including the streams, wetlands and variety of wildlife that call it home.

Select the best learn-to-ski-or-ride package based on skill level and comfort online, so you’ll be ready to go when you arrive. Besides the learning programs, equipment rental is available. Purchase your lift tickets in advance or consider a season pass for frequent visits throughout the winter.

Each season the resort hosts family-focused events like the popular ‘Under the Stars Snowshoe & Yoga’ or the fun ‘Chili Cookouts’. Staying true to the original mandate of the Triple S Club, creating a warm, inviting and social vibe is key at Snow Valley.

So come to Snow Valley Ski Resort to learn how to ski and snowboard, embrace this glorious season and make new friends along the way.
