More about Casino Rama Resort

Casino Rama is the largest First Nations casino in Canada, boasting 2,200 slot machines, 67 gaming tables, 289 hotel rooms and an entertainment center that can seat 5,000 guests.

The casino, hotel and entertainment complex opened in 1996 and is located on the reserve land of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation (known as Rama), nestled on the shores of Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. Historically, the Rama area was known as a gathering place where travellers met to trade, rest, convene with one another to swap resources and advice, or attend meetings. Though it is home to the Casino Rama Resort today, people still travel to the complex for the same reasons.

The main attraction of the casino is its gaming floor, spanning 192,000 square feet. With 2,200 slot machines from traditional reels to modern video slots, it’s easy to find something right up your alley. Or take a chance at one of the 67 gaming tables. Try your hand at poker, blackjack, craps, roulette or baccarat. The gaming floor is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

Visitors can join My Club Rewards for free, which is a great way for gamers to earn more prizes and points. The My Club Rewards membership is valid at a variety of other casinos around Ontario.

At the resort, there are eight different dining options. No matter which restaurant you choose, you’ve hit the jackpot.

The Couchiching Court Buffet provides over 100 options every day, including Asian cuisine, pizza, and plenty of dessert. On certain days of the week, stop by the buffet for themed meals — Mexican Mondays, Italian Tuesdays or Asian Tuesdays.

The Noodle Bar is a great late-night option where you can taste Cantonese culture by making your own soup or noodle bowl, while The Willow features an a-la-carte menu with Dim Sum, Cantonese dishes, and delicious new East-meets-West offerings.

For an extravagant night out, try the award-winning wine list, array of seafood options, and AAA Alberta beef steaks at St. Germain’s Steakhouse.

Guests can also hang out on the indoor patio of Simcoe Yard House, where they can watch an array of sports on the big screen TVs and sample unique beer cocktails. Casino Rama also features plenty of burger options at Burger Bar, comfort food at The Weirs Restaurant, or to-go meals, snacks, or coffee from Cedar Express.

For those who just want to grab a drink and go, there are a few bars around the hotel. Head to Firestarter Lounge in the lobby, with its huge, cozy fireplace or Centre Bar in the middle of the casino floor so you don’t have to go too far from the gaming action!

The Casino Rama Resort is also home to a huge venue of 5,000 seats where guests can see live shows and events. The list of artists and musicians who have visited in the past is extensive and includes Mariah Carey, Journey, Dolly Parton, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, just to name a few. Casino Rama also frequently hosts live MMA boxing events, known as Rumble at Rama.

There are various retail shops throughout the resort, so pop in for gifts, snacks, toiletries or fashion.

The hotel itself was inspired by classic Muskoka lakeside cottages but features all the comforts of a modern luxury hotel, including room service, a pool and a fitness centre.

Hotel guests can also take advantage of the resort’s spa: Balanced in Life Spa. Located on the third floor of the hotel, the spa offers various massage treatments and facials, manicures and pedicures, body treatments such as hair removal, and several other services.

Due to its location on the shores of Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching, there are plenty of recreational activities nearby, including boating or kayaking on the water, hiking the wooded trails, exploring downtown Orillia and relaxing on the shore.

The resort is just an hour and a half north of Toronto, but there are Casino Rama buses available from plenty of locations around Ontario for easy transport to the casino.
